Lackner, Abdolhosseini win Four Bridges Half-Marathon
On a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning, Kyle Lackner and Katherine Abdolhosseini ran to victory at the 11th annual Lake Natoma Four Bridges Half Marathon in Folsom. Lackner, a 21-year-old Folsom resident, who graduated from Jesuit High in 2008 and currently runs cross country at Sac State, finished the 13.1-mile race before anyone else in 1 hour, 17 minutes and 33 seconds. “It’s a good course and it’s good to win, but I’m not really pleased with my time,” Lackner said. “I was hoping to run under 1:10.” Lackner’s first half-marathon ended up in victory, although he’s more used to running three-to-six mile cross country races. Many runners, like Abdolhosseini, use the Four Bridges event to prepare for the California International Marathon in December. She’s run the CIM twice before with a personal-best time of 3:34. Her goal this year is to break three hours and she’s pumped after finishing Sunday’s half-marathon in 1:27.33. “To win is always nice,” said the 31-year-old runner from San Jose, “but my goal is to break three hours at the CIM. “I had some low moments, like around mile seven, and I tore my legs up a bit, but I was happy with my pace and this is a pretty tough course.” This was Abdolhosseini’s first Four Bridges Half and she enjoyed it immensely. She said she plans to participate in it again. “It was a good day,” she said. “The Sacramento running community is so awesome and the support is great. The events up here are organized and affordable and there’s great crowd support. I’ll totally run this again. This is Sacramento running at its finest.” The half marathon, along with the Three-Person Relay and the Kids Scary Scamper, drew nearly 3,000 participants.
