Rehearsing for “The Sound of Music” are Folsom High students Tristan Bonds, Katie Robinette, Brandon Karrer, Julianne Turkel, Jessica McKillican, Cassidy Cagney, Kaylia Reynolds and Ireland Bonds.

The Jill Solberg Theatre will come alive with “The Sound of Music” tomorrow at Folsom High School.

Folsom students will perform Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from March 18-20 and 25-27.

“Each and every year these plays are phenomenal, and it’s hard to believe these are high school kids,” said Julie Villata, a parent volunteer.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors age 55 and older and children. Tickets can be reserved in advance by e-mailing fhsdramatix@att.net or by calling 484-3723.

The musical is based on the book “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers” and features the Rodgers and Hammerstein score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi” and “Climb Every Mountain.”

This year director Tamara Mosier brought in younger students from other Folsom schools.

“This is not the first year that she (Mosier) has used other students from other schools, but this is the first year of having this many,” Joanne Brausch, parent volunteer. “It crossed three grade levels.”

Senior Lucinda Otto, 18, will play the role of Elsa Schraeder.

“I’m really excited because it’s my last year,” Otto said. “(Elsa) is so much fun to play. She is very confident and is kind of the bad guy of the play. She has a distinguished air about her.”

Tamara Mosier directs the production, with singers under the vocal direction of Ginger Ekroth-Saxon. Senior Aly Iacobitti choreographed dances.

Scenic designer Charles Davidson created the Alpine meadows, the abbey and the Von Trapp estate for the show.

“The kids put in so much time and energy into these plays. They are just phenomenal student artists,” Brausch said. “It’s just a great program. I can’t say enough.”

“The community should come out and see the production,” Brausch said. “They will never be disappointed by the quality and caliber of the performance.”
