Eagles' track and field team shows glimpse of their potential
Vista del Lago’s track and field team competed in the Clarke Massey Relay's on Feb. 27 and the team showed a brief glimpse at their potential. The varsity girls were dominant in the sprints, as expected, with junior Emily Cooper leading the way. The women's distance team also shined brightly with Madeleine Ankhelyi leading their efforts. The girls picked up where they left off last year. Cooper, along with sophomore Jessica Sampson, each ran several outstanding legs as the 4x200-meter relay team won their heat by 50 meters, while Ankhelyi made up 90 meters in the anchor leg to win the 4x800 relay, according to coach Mark Bosse. Bosse added that Scott Fukui and Trey Hairabedian both ran great sprint legs. Newcomer Henry Kozlowski added two excellent 400 legs, Bosse said. Matt Winkler led the freshman-sophomore squad by winning the 3,200. Sprinter Matt Raymond and Travor Canova also ran well. The following are those teams who finished in the top-three places.
