Telegraph office is small, but responsive
Inside the Telegraph

By Laura Newell

Telegraph Staff Writer

You may recognize my name as being a Telegraph correspondent turned staff writer, but what you may not know is that I wear many hats here in the Folsom office.

I also work in the office as an editorial and advertising coordinator.

What does that mean? In short, I do a little bit of everything. I answer customer phone calls, assist the advertising sales representatives and, of course, report while working directly with the editor.

While I’m not new to the newspaper business, I have been working full time in the office for two months -- and boy have I seen a lot.

First of all, it was to my surprise that the circulation department is run out of our sister newspaper, the Auburn Journal. While this does not change the Telegraph’s dependable service, it does mean that when you call me to report a misdelivery, I will forward you to the circulation department in Auburn.

To speak with circulation directly, call 774-7900.

But please, always feel free to call or e-mail me with questions, concerns and (hopefully) compliments.

Second, the Folsom office is small and busy.

We have seven full-time staff members working out of this office, and seven correspondents reporting for you.

Our staff members include a managing editor, sports editor, photographer, an advertising director and two sales representatives.

Having a small office means that we work quickly and responsibly.

If you have a story idea or event that you would like to see printed in the Telegraph, please e-mail or bring it in at least two weeks prior to the desired publication date. This will allow us to assign a correspondent to the story and include it into the appropriate sections. It also allows us to follow our personal deadlines we have as a weekly newspaper.

Please e-mail all story ideas, press releases and letters to the editor to the editor Don Chaddock at donc@goldcountrymedia.com.

Please e-mail all events to telegraphevents@goldcountrymedia.com and visit folsomtelegraph.com or edhtelegraph.com to place your event online.

For guaranteed placement in our printed publication, you can purchase an advertisement. If you are interested in guaranteed placement, please call (916) 985-2581.

This has been an interesting couple of months and I look forward to many more.
