Lake Natoma Parkway project story was only part right
Reader input
I wish to correct two comments attributed to me in the Feb. 10 Telegraph article titled “Lake Natoma Project making waves. 1. The very first sentence, “A river protection group objects to a trail project the city claims has their support.” To the best of our knowledge, SARA was not listed as an endorser of the Lake Natoma Waterfront and Trail Access Enhancement Project. It is also correct we do not endorse the project. Our concern is that other Parkway stakeholder organizations were listed as endorsing the project when they did not. I have letters from three of the organizations who were listed as endorsing the project in the grant application — but did not. They are: Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, California Native Plant Society and Friends of the Folsom Powerhouse Association. 2. The second to last sentence on the front page reads, “All of which, Truitt claims, is unnecessary.” Taken as written, this would imply that SARA is opposed to completion of the Class I bike trail — running from behind the Lake Natoma Inn to the Historic Truss Bridge, completing the 12-mile loop around Lake Natoma. The only comment I made about the trail completion is that this is an entirely separate project — not related to the grant associated with the Lake Natoma Waterfront and Trail Access Enhancement Project. SARA is NOT opposed to the completion of this link to complete the bike trail around Lake Natoma. Warren V. Truitt, president, Save the American River Association
