Capt. Craig Therkildsen, left, and Sgt. Jim Byers, with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, held a press conference outside the county jail in Placerville to discuss the latest developments in the murder of 47-year-old Joanne Witt.

Two fugitive teens, suspects in the murder of 47-year-old Joanne Witt of El Dorado Hills, were arrested by San Bruno Police on Wednesday, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.

A press conference was held Wednesday outside the county jail to discuss the latest developments in the murder of Witt.

Witt's teenage daughter, Tylar, was arrested along with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Steven Colver, in San Bruno outside a strip mall.

"We're looking into the relationship between them," said Capt. Craig Therkildsen, with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. "Because of (her) age, I can't discuss the relationship."

He said detectives from El Dorado County are on their way to interview the suspects at the San Bruno Police Department. Colver will later be booked into San Mateo County Jail while Witt will go to juvenile hall until they are transported back to El Dorado County.

Therkildsen said the teens had been camping outside a strip mall in San Bruno when they were arrested by police.

"They could have been there five minutes or (longer)," he said. "We just don't know."

Therkildsen said the murder weapon has not been recovered but it is believed to be a "stabbing instrument."

He said he wanted the public to know the teens were in custody.

"We can all breathe a collective sigh of relief," he said.

Therkildsen thanked the media for their quick response in getting out the information and photos of the suspects.

"That probably helped in their capture," he said.

He also thanked the various agencies in the Bay Area who helped in the investigation and apprehension.

He said the victim's family has been notified of the arrest.

"They are devastated by the news in general," he said. "I don't think it changed with this news (of the arrest)."
